Clóna Dairy is proud to support West Cork athlete Nicola Tuthill, who will compete in the Hammer Throw at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Nicola, the youngest member of the Irish athletics team, is a rising star who hails from Bandon in West Cork. She gained international prominence when she reached the finals at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Colombia in 2022 and has since represented Ireland at the European Games, finishing second and becoming the second ever Irish woman to throw over 70 meters.
At this year’s European Athletic Championships in Rome, Nicola finished in 9th place and now becomes the third Irish woman to compete in a throwing event at the Olympics.
Nicola, an Ad Astra Science student at UCD, grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Bandon where her father, Norman, created a purpose-built facility for her, including a throwing circle and hammer cage, which allows her to do part of her training at home in the scenic surrounds of West Cork without the need to travel long distances.
“We are deeply honoured and delighted to support Nicola as she goes forward to represent Ireland at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The team at Clóna and the entire community is proud to see a West Cork woman competing at the very highest level of international sport.
She is an absolute inspiration, and we wish her every success at the games!”
